So, you just got your new PC. Check out the list below to get the best setup for your new PC. This is a follow up to my article Windows Computer Buying Advice 2024 – ScottSekinger.com.
- Go through the initial Windows setup.
- Update Windows.
- Update any software that came with your PC with the PC’s software updater.
- Make sure you what you paid for if you get from anywhere other then the computer’s manufacturer, or somewhere like BestBuy’s.
- Create recovery drive Check out my articles How to Create Your Windows Recovery Drive – ScottSekinger.com, and The Importance of a Windows Recovery Drive – ScottSekinger.com for more information
- Create a system image of your PC. Checkout Backup Your System With A Disk Image – ScottSekinger.com for mor information Create the system mage before you install any additional software, and put away with your recovery drive.
- Register your PC, so you get everything you are entitled to.
- Only install the software you use.
- Copy your files to your new computer including your bookmarks / favorites.
