NSLOOKUP

Nslookup is a great program that comes Windows, MAC OS, and most versions of Linux. It is used to get the ip address from a specified server that keeps the DNS entry for the desired machine. This server can be Google’s DNS servers, or in business it could be a private server used in that place of business’.

An example command is nslookup www.cnn.com 8.8.8.8. www.cnn.com(CNN’s website server), and 8.8.8.8 is the one of Google’s DNS servers it uses to get the IP address for CNN’s website server.

Go to nslookup | Microsoft Docs for more information. The focus is on the Windows version, but it is usually the same across all three OS.
